The US Hapkido Federation was founded in 1984 as a means of promoting Hapkido and to provide a forum used to learn and share the martial arts with others regardless of the style of Hapkido they practice. Join the US Hapkido Federation and become a part of a community devoted to the martial art.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide which type of membership you are interested in. The US Hapkido Federation offers individual membership on an annual and lifetime basis. They also offer school memberships.

  2. Step 2

Apply online at the Hapkido Federation website. For an individual membership, choose "Individual Membership Application" from the drop-down box on the homepage. Click "Go" and then print out the membership application. Submit the application with the appropriate fee. Fees differ based on type of membership you choose.

  3. Step 3

Become a US Hapkido Federation member school. Any school that teaches Hapkido in the U.S. is eligible for school affiliation. Print out the school membership and submit the application with the school fee, copies of the school owner or director's martial art resume and any additional supporting documentation such as licenses and letters of recommendation.

  4. Step 4

Take advantage of your membership and be active within the Hapkido Federation. The only way to learn more about the martial art is to actively participate in it. The US Hapkido Federation offers seminars and workshops throughout the year. Check the "Newsletter," "Reiki" and "Upcoming Events" sections of the Federation's website for up to date details.

Tips & Warnings
  • As with all martial arts, Hapkido is more than simply a study of self defense. It is a way of life. To fully learn about its philosophy you must participate in events outside of class.
