Holidays, birthday parties, just parties in general usually have an excess of candy. Now what to do with the candy wrappers? Surely there is something better than just throwing the wrappers away. You can craft chains out of those candy wrappers with ease. For clarity's sake we are going to use Starburst wrappers but other sweet wrappers will work just as well as long as they are similar in size.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Candy wrappers such as Starburst wrappers
  • Jewelry clasp
  • Multiple jump rings
  • Needle

Step1
Spread out the Starburst wrapper on a flat surface. Place the wrapper so the top and bottom edges are the longer edges of the wrapper.
Step2
Fold the wrapper in half top and bottom edges meet and crease. Unfold it after your crease the wrapper.
Step3
Now fold the top and bottom edges so they meet on the crease you just made. Complete step 2 and this step one more time so that the wrapper is folded into a long thin strip.
Step4
Take the wrapper, which is now a long thin strip, and fold it so that it creates a crease in the middle.
Step5
Unfold the thin strip to see the crease you just made.
Step6
Now fold the left and right edges in so they meet at the crease. If you do it properly, you should be holding the wrapper in a V shape.
Step7
Use wrappers to make enough for your chain. Complete the steps above to make many of these V-shaped wrappers. Remember that six or seven wrappers makes about two inches of chain
Step8
Take one of the V-shaped wrappers and slip its feet into another V-shaped wrapper's legs. Slip the feet into the leg holes.
Step9
Repeat with the rest of the wrappers. You will be making a pattern as you go so remember to check the pattern as you go along. This helps you identify where to place the next wrapper.
Step10
Pierce holes into the last wrappers on either side of the chain. Make sure to pierce completely through the wrapper.
Step11
Connect a jewelry clasp and jump ring together and place the jump ring on one end of the chain. Slide the jump ring through the hole in the wrapper and attach the clasp to it. Close the jump ring.
Step12
Slide a jump ring through the hole on the other end of the chain. Connect a jump ring to that one and close both jump rings.
