How to Roller Wrap Ethnic Hair

The roller wrap is a low maintenance style predominately used on ethnic hair. It typically lasts five to seven days after the initial roller wrap. The beauty of roller wrapping ethnic hair is that an actual hair style is maintained and the damage caused by excessive heat is minimized. Practice roller wrapping to access the ultimate in ease and style.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Setting lotion
  • Rollers
  • Hardhat blow dryer
  • Plastic bristled brush
  • Spritz or hair spray
  1. Step 1

    Shampoo and condition the hair.

  2. Step 2

    Use a light, leave-in conditioner to add extra protection to the ethnic hair.

  3. Step 3

    Spritz the hair with setting lotion. Roll the hair into 1½ to 2 inch sections while the hair is still wet. The rollers should produce a soft to moderate curl when removed.

  4. Step 4

    Sit under a hardhat dryer for 45 minutes or until the hair is completely dry. Remove the rollers.

  5. Step 5

    Wrap the hair with a wide, plastic bristled brush around the hair.

  6. Step 6

    Stay under the hardhat blow dryer for two to five minutes to set the hair, depending on the thickness of the hair.

  7. Step 7

    Unwrap the hair into the opposite direction as it was wrapped in Step 5. Arrange the hair in the desired style and lightly spray with spritz or hair spray.
