Instructions
  1. Step 1

Complete your medical education. In medicine, fellowships are awarded to people who have completed four years of medical training.

  2. Step 2

Go to the American Medical Association website. FREIDA online provides detailed information about medical fellowship programs in the United States. You can search according to specialty and location and the results are provided as links to the websites for the various programs.

  3. Step 3

Learn the name of the program director at FREIDA as well as the person to contact for additional information. You will also learn about the length of the program, whether it is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (a group that accredits post-MD medical training programs in the United States), program start dates and application dates.

  4. Step 4

Check out the National Medical Fellowships website, which lists opportunities for minority medical students.

  5. Step 5

Visit the American Academy of Family Physicians website where you'll find a fellowship directory for every state.

  6. Step 6

Research the websites for a medical specialty in which you are interested. Look for fellowship listings or contact someone at the organization for additional information.
