Step 1
Inquire at your school about available funds. States often have money available to help those who have trouble paying for advanced placement course testing. Some states simply pay the fees for the students, while others subsidize the test fees. Restrictions may apply, so make sure to question your teacher or counselor carefully.

Step 2
Get a part time or school co-op job. A part time job can help you pay for the advanced placement tests, as long as you save up at least part of what you earn. It's important to remember that your job should in no way interfere with school though. School should always come first.

Step 3
Get a federal grant. Those who qualify as low income may be eligible for federal grant money. This can offset the cost of the exam or even pay for it all. Generally, notices are sent out at the beginning of an AP class stating where to send applications for federal aid. These grants only apply to certain states, so you should check that your state qualifies before asking.

Step 4
Obtain a loan. Advanced placement course materials are expensive and so are the tests. A loan may be necessary to finance this incredible opportunity. Look at it this way; you'll save hundreds of dollars if you pass the tests.
