Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Prepare with caution. Clean the car and remove anything that gets in the way of window tinting, such as door panel flaps. Tape them out of the way if necessary or remove the door panels. Remove the rear deck and third brake light.

  2. Step 2

Create a pattern using plastic coated freezer paper. Spray a large piece of freezer paper to the window, smooth with a hard card and allow to dry before tracing the paper. This creates a template for accurate measurements for your tinting film.

  3. Step 3

Pre-cut the window tinting using the freezer paper pattern. Cut accurately and re-cut if necessary. It's better to waste tinting film than have seam gaps. Trim the tint so that it is a little larger than the window measurements, you can remove excess later.

  4. Step 4

Get the glass soapy and wet to apply the tint. Use a squeegee to remove air bubbles. Hold the film at an anchor point and always squeegee downward.

  5. Step 5

Let the tint dry fully before moving windows or driving the car. Touching the tint before it's completely dry can cause tears, create creases and seam gaps.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you do not plan on tinting several cars, it will be more cost-effective for you to pay a professional to tint your windows.
