Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Tell everyone you know about your discovery. Encourage friends and family to try your product. Keep track of how many people find your fads interesting. Think about selling a product if your friends and family show sufficient interest.
Step2
Set up a website featuring your idea. Create a You Tube limited number of products. Keep the door open for further product orders but do not set up any permanent manufacturing facilities.
Step3
Introduce your fad to a college campus. Market your fad to students with posters, free samples and demonstrations. Encourage college students to tell others of your fad in emails to friends across the country. Post the website and You Tube address on all packaging, posters and other marketing materials.
Step4
Attempt to have your fad written about by college newspapers, trend setting websites and fashion magazines. Prepare a press release and send it to every news outlet you can think of. Remember, fads are hot, hip and quick, so focus on groups known to be hip, hot and trendy.
Step5
Offer your product for sale on your website. Post a picture on your website of your fad being used by cool, attractive people. Include testimonials if possible. Price your fad to appeal to the widest audience.
Step6
Give away samples to markets where your fad is not hot. Place your fad in the hands of cheerleaders, athletes and other visible young people. Create the concept that "everyone has one" in the markets you want to sell in. Market your fad to the widest possible audience. Sell to anyone willing to buy.
Step7
Sell while your fad is hot. Fold your tent once the craze has burnt out. Create or find a new fad and try it again. New fads arise every day.
