Step 1
Ban all sugar and artificial sweeteners. Splenda and Nutrasweet, according to the authors, stimulate your sweet tooth, while the real thing makes your fat cells grow rampantly. If you want something sweet, stick to fruit. You can also enjoy baked goods made from beet sugar, evaporated cane juice, brown rice syrup and other natural substitutes.
-
Step 2
Enjoy brown rice, whole grains and whole wheat pasta--but don't eat a morsel of white flour products. White bread, white rice and white pasta are all too refined for dieters' needs.
-
Step 3
Become a vegetarian. Meat of all kinds is banned on this diet. This isn't for ethical reasons but for aesthetic ones. A big steak will give you a big butt, so stick with vegetables which are easier to digest and less caloric.
-
Step 4
Stock up on soy instead of your usual dairy products. The Skinny Bitch Diet isn't just vegetarian--it's vegan. Dairy products are banned for the same reason as meats are.
-
Step 5
Live on fruits, vegetables, soy, nuts, water, green tea and organic red wine. Treats made from tofu and other ingredients on the Skinny Bitch Diet are OK, but everything else is a slip up.

on 1/7/2010 I had heard of this diet before and thought I'd see what it included/excluded - the funny thing is, it's basically the same thing as a Daniel Fast (which I'm currently on) based on Daniel in the Bible. Weird. Maybe if you're not a PETA enthusiast and you'd still like some of the positive results of this diet you should check out a Daniel Fast.

on 1/3/2010 Whomever wrote this article didn't actually read the book, did they? The authors of this way-of-life series did promise that their vegan diet works wonders on your body, but they actually admit that they don't care about being skinny -- they care about animal rights. There are chapters dedicated to the mistreatment of their beloveds, proving you didn't even read most of the book.
Now I can't trust eHow. Shame.

on 9/24/2009 As I am reading the above posts, almost all of you talk about the importance of introducing healthier foods in your diet, eating foods with less chemicals, not consuming over-processed prepackaged foods. This is exactly what the Skinny Bitch book DOES NOT promote. If you go to website and look at their favorite foods they recommend, ALL of them are processed, chemical laden foods!! I think anything that is unnatural and manufactured in a factory (soy chicken fingers) is so bad for your body. Also we need to wake up and start researching the dangers of soy on our bodies!

on 9/22/2009 the book does in fact go into moral and ethical reasons for not eating meat...there is a whole chapter on the cruelty of factory farms. additionally, there is a whole chapter on meals and meal ideas. it really isn't a diet, but a lifestyle change. of course, i was already well on the way to being vegan when i read this book. i gave up the dairy and have lost a full jeans size in 2 months. i still have plenty of energy because i replaced it with soy milk. i really don't starve! but i have read a lot about the garbage that goes into meat and packaged food. it's some scary, cancer causing ****. the point, beyond this book, is that americans need to wake up and read ingredient labels and find out what their food is and where it comes from. that's the best way to stop being a disgusting fat-ass in the drive thru.

on 7/23/2009 The Skinny Bitch idea is a lifestyle change more than it is a diet. The point is that we put so many chemicals in our bodies through the foods we eat. I find when I eliminate all the foods the Skinny Bitches suggest, I feel much better - my head is clearer, no stomach ailments and I have more energy. I fully understand that the lifestyle is not for everyone, but if you have the will power to eliminate those foods (and I admit I slip occasionally) you will notice a change in your body, whether you lose weight or not, is not the point.
