Step 1
Get up on the wake skate using which ever method is easiest for you. The beginner method is done by standing on the submerged board perpendicular to the boat. Bend your knees slightly and lean back while the boat pulls you slowly out of the water.
-
Step 2
Roll out of your turn gently and edge toward the wake. Be careful not to turn too quickly as you will get slack in your rope and be knocked off balance by the wake.
-
Step 3
Put increasing pressure on your heels as you get closer to the wake and prepare to cross it. Your wake skate should be lowering a little deeper in to the water with each increase in pressure. Keep your knees bent slightly and your body diverted away from the wake.
-
Step 4
Keep the wake skate edged through the wake. Your feet should be evenly spaced on the wake skate. When you are 2 to 3 feet from the edge of the wake straighten your body and keep your head up.
-
Step 5
Aim your wake skate towards the direction you want to land. Cross the wakes on your wake skate. Bend your knees when you hit the water in order to absorb the shock.
