3. Study sailing independently. Take sailing classes via online courses or learn from a video or DVD. Get free sailing classes online from the "Offshore Sailing School." Provide your zip code and email address, and then get a log in code and begin studying.
4. Get books to study sailing while you take classes. See that some schools or instructors will provide you with reading material so that you can use it along with lessons. Understand there is a lot to memorize, and the more information you have, the better and safer your sailing experience will be.
