The vows have been exchanged, the cake has been cut and the bride and groom are ready to make their grand exit from the reception. This is where you can make sure the lovebirds go out in style. Here is how to decorate a newlyweds' car.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Tackle the obvious task first. Using either window clings or a white sponge marker, write JUST MARRIED on the back windshield. Some people like to write the first names of the couple and even the date. This will ensure they get honked at until they wash the car. If concerned about blocking the view, write a sign and attach it to the rear of the car with a strong tape, such as duct tape, so it doesn't fly off as they drive.

  2. Step 2

Tie some clunky, noise making items to the rear bumper. Once upon a time old shoes were used, as it was believed that leather would ward off evil spirits. If there are no shoes handy, tin cans are fine. Pretty much anything that will make a racket as the couple takes off in the getaway car is acceptable.

  3. Step 3

Cram the car with balloons before the couple emerges. Watch with delight as the bride and groom struggle get into the vehicle amidst the popping balloons.

  4. Step 4

Wrap the getaway vehicle into a mummy with toilet paper or colored streamers. It should be draped and wrapped almost everywhere to draw attention when the newlyweds are cruising down the highway.

  5. Step 5

Attack the windows with shaving cream. Some people use it in other places on the car, but it should be mentioned that shaving cream can damage a car's paint job and is not recommended for surfaces other than the windows.

  6. Step 6

Have somebody sit behind the wheel of the vehicle after all of the decorating touches have been added. Make sure there is no great obstruction of view for the driver. You should have fun decorating the getaway car, but you should always have safety in mind as well.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the vehicle is a rental and not the property of the newlyweds, you should discuss your decorating plans with the rental company beforehand to ensure you don't incur any fines. If your decorations do end up costing the couple money, do the right thing and reimburse them.
