No one likes a messy home, but with today's busy schedules it can be hard to find time to give your home a good cleaning on a regular basis. But it's not so hard to find just 10 minutes here and there to give your rooms a quick fix in between your big cleanings.

From Quick Guide: Home Management 101
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • All purpose cleaner
  • Vacuum
  • Vacuum bags
  • Broom
  • Dust pan
  • Disposable cleaning wipes
  • Paper towels
  • Rubber gloves
  • Scrubber
  • Dust rag
  • Bleach
  • Trash bags
  1. Step 1

Enlist helpers if you can. Get your kids, partner or roommate to clean a room with you and you can cut your time in half. For example, have your kids pick up toys while you're getting the supplies ready.

  2. Step 2

Turn off any distractions so you can stay focused when trying to clean a room in 10 minutes. Turn off the TV and the ringer on the phone. You may want to turn on some music with a fast pace to get you moving and get your cleaning rhythm going.

  3. Step 3

Remind yourself that you want to clean this room in 10 minutes. This is a quick cleaning so save your really thorough work for when you have more time. If it's not dirty, don't clean it.

  4. Step 4

Make supplies easily accessible. Keep all of your cleaning supplies in one area of the house, wear a cleaning apron and keep needed items in your pockets. Carry a portable caddy of cleaning supplies.

  5. Step 5

Use a clean vacuum bag so it will have more pick-up power to clean the room faster in those 10 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use both hands when you're trying to clean a room in 10 minutes. Spray the counter with one hand and wipe with the other, push the vacuum with one hand and pick up stray items with the other.
  • Keep cleaning products out of the reach of small children.
