Instructions

    • 1

Put on eye protection because cutting piano wire is dangerous.

    • 2

Cut a 360 mm piece of 1 mm piano wire.

    • 3

Bend the piano wire in half so there's 180 mm on each side.

    • 4

Create small 20 mm loops on the ends of the piano wire. These loops will hold the rubber bands.

    • 5

Measure down 50 mm from the ends and make a bend on each side so that the ends of the piano wire angle away to the outside, away from the center of the original "v" of piano wire. Measure about half-way down from the end, and bend the piano wire so that it is turning back toward the center.

    • 6

Cut a small block of wood that's 100 mm long. This will be the handle of the piano wire slingshot. The block should measure 10 mm by 10 mm. Cut shallow grooves into each side of the block with a saw.

    • 7

Place the block between both sides of the piano wire "v" and bind into place with electrical tape or cord. You can add a magnet to the handle. If you use metal air gun ammo, the ammo will be held by the magnet.

    • 8

Twist three rubber bands together, and put them through the loops at either end of the piano wire. Bind the ends of the rubber bands by wrapping another rubber band around them and tying them off. Be sure that the rubber bands and their binding are secure.

    • 9

Snip off a portion of cloth shoelace. Poke a hole on either end of the shoelace piece, and insert the ends of the rubber bands and tie them off. Wrap the shoelace end around the rubber bands, then bind them with another rubber band, one on each end.
