Send an International Text

Text messaging is convenient when you just need to make a quick statement. You aren't obligated to make small talk to avoid feeling rude. There may come a time when you need to send an international text message. Although there are many similarities to sending local text messages, there are some distinct differences.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the option to "Create a Text Message" on your phone. For most subscribers this is located under the "Message" option on your cell phone screen. It may also be titled "Write a Text Message" or "New Text Message."

    • 2

Type in the phone number in the "To" section of the "Create Text Message" field. You will need to include a "+" symbol, the designated country code, operator code and the cell phone number of the recipient.

    • 3

Input your text message in the "Text" field. Be sure to use complete words and punctuation when typing your text message. Not everyone understands the abbreviations used in text messaging.

    • 4

Press "OK" to send your text message. Your cell phone may say "Send."

    • 5

Wait for your "Message Sent" confirmation. If there's a discrepancy in the country code your message won't be sent, and you won't receive the confirmation. Check the country code and complete international phone number for the text message. Send it again.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check with your cell phone provider to verify the charges when sending an international text message.
