1. Cast a multiple of 10 stitches plus 3, depending on how wide you want your work, on a pair of knitting needles. Row 1 is the right side and the pattern is purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, *(knit 3, purl 1) twice, knit 1, purl 1. Repeat from the * across. The pattern for the 2nd row is purl 1, knit 1,*purl 3, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 3, knit 1. Repeat from * across.

2. The pattern for row 3 is knit 4,*(purl 1, knit 1) twice, purl 1, knit 5. Repeat from * until you get to the last 9 stitches then (purl 1 knit 1) twice, purl 1 and knit 4. The pattern for row 4 is purl 3, *(knit 1, purl 1) 3 times, knit 1 purl 3. Repeat from * across.

3. The pattern for row 5 is to repeat row 3 and the pattern for row 6 is to repeat row 2.The pattern for row 7 is to repeat row 1.
