The paper wished to hold an amateur boxing tournament, and gave it the name of "Golden Gloves." Famous Golden Gloves champions include Sugar Ray Leonard, Rocky Marciano and Muhammad Ali. Learn how to box. You can find boxing clubs or lessons in the phone book. Finding a good coach is imperative. With a good coach, you can better achieve your goal of being a Golden Gloves champion.

Practice every day, and work out, focusing on your speed and strength. With your practice, you should always eat well. Make sure you have a good diet that does not include a lot of junk food, and drink a lot of water every day.

Work with heavy bags and speed bags when not sparring in the ring. Always work on your form during practice, either by shadow boxing and working in front of a mirror.

Join a Golden Gloves franchise. There are 30 in the United States. You can find this information online and at the Pennsylvania Golden Gloves site.

Compete in Golden Glove recognized events. Start out in a Silver Gloves tournament if you are 15 or younger, then work your way up to the Golden Gloves tournament.

Win the Golden Gloves National Tournament and become a Golden Gloves champion.
