Living in motel rooms is often attributed to the homeless. But there are some who would choose to have such a residence. For those with no family and few responsibilities, living without a permanent address can be a way to save money and feel like being on an eternal vacation. Read on to learn how to live in motels.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look for a motel that is somewhere close to your workplace and other places you frequent. Any money you would save on the motel room would be pointless if it's costing more in commuting expenses.

  2. Step 2

Find a motel that's in a safe neighborhood. You want to be safe and secure above all else, and there are more than a few motels of unstable quality. A reputable name in a decent part of town will save you piece of mind.

  3. Step 3

Book your room as far in advance as you can. You can probably get a good discount reserving early enough.

  4. Step 4

Get a post office box. You will need some place to regularly get your mail from. Find a post office that's close to your motel's area for easy travel.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep as few possessions as you can, as a motel room won't have much storage space. You could store some things in your car regularly, but then it would be break-in target.
  • Find out what facilities and amenities each motel offers, such as laundry machines and complimentary breakfasts. If they can satisfy you, it's a way to save money as well.
  • Try to be considerate, especially when using utilities like water and electricity that you're not paying for. Remember, if motel management has to pay for excessive use of utilities by full-time residents, it could eventually mean higher rates.
