Have you cherished your favorite old computer games so much you still have folders of those five-inch floppy disks, or even the old computer they were used on? That PC may no longer work, but you may still be able to play those games if you can find them to download onto your new computer. Read on to learn how to download old computer games.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Find a website that has old computer games available to download. You may need to enter the specific game titles in the search engine in order to find them. Searching by the game manufacturer may also work.
Step2
Read and follow the instructions the website gives on how to download the games. The biggest thing to look for is if the downloads are free or not. Even if they do charge for downloading, it usually costs very little.
Step3
Download the games onto your hard drive. Fortunately, these games take very little memory space by today's standards. The games should be ready to play as soon as they are downloaded.

Tips & Warnings

  • You will need DOS installed on your operating system in order to use computer games created in the early 1990s or earlier. Fortunately, most Windows and Macintosh operating systems have a form of DOS included.
  • Your biggest concern may be the games memory speed. Some online distributors manage to adjust the games to operate within the memory speed of today's faster computers. But some fail to do so, and you'll be left with games operating so fast they're impossible to play. It's truly buyer beware.
