Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pick a spot that receives partial to full sun. The spot should be away from the home and any concrete structures to prevent damage to foundations and the concrete itself.

  2. Step 2

Prepare the soil according to your area. For example, those who live in clay soil area should prepare a raised mound for the plant. Consult your local nursery for the type of preparations needed for the soil in your area.

  3. Step 3

Space the seeds or grafted plants at least six feet apart. Place them in the ground. Cover them and water.

  4. Step 4

Keep an eye on your yuzu tree for a while. Look for signs of disease and or damage from animals. It will take awhile for the fruit to produce, but the leaves are said to let off an aromatic citrus scent, so enjoy the fragrance while you wait.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want fruit quickly, choose a grafted plant over seeds. Trees from grafts take a year to bear fruit, but trees from seed can take from three to seventeen years!
  • Some citrus growers say that fertilizing a citrus tree immediately is a mistake. Consult your local nursery or the web to know what to do in your area.
