Fred Astaire was an incredible dancer that made every dance he did look effortless and beautiful. Amazing to think that after his first screen test, it was stated, "Can't act. Can't sing. Balding. Can dance a little." Would you like to dance like Fred Astaire? It's possible, though it will take a lot of work. Read on to learn how to dance like Fred Astaire.

      Take tap lessons. You can find these by looking in the phone book or online.

      Practice diligently. If you don't understand something in class, stay after class and ask your teacher for help. Do not leave the studio until you understand the step. Once at home, practice the step that challenged you over and over until it's second nature.

      Take more and more advanced lessons as your ability increases.

      Take ballroom dancing as well. These can also be found in the phone book or online. You may be able to take it at the same studio as your tap lessons.

      Watch all of Fred Astaire's movies, and study how he dances. Watch how he positions his hands and arms, his body, everything. Watch each dance sequence over and over, until you have them memorized.

      Start working on doing the dance moves yourself, and tape yourself. Watch the tapes of yourself, and compare them to Fred. With time, you will dance like Fred Astaire.
