Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pie plate
  • Water
  • Dish soap
  • Toothpick
  • Pepper
  1. Step 1

Wash a shallow pie pan. Make sure it is completely rinsed out with no soap residue left in it.

  2. Step 2

Dip a plain wooden toothpick in liquid dish soap before your audience arrives.

  3. Step 3

Fill the pan about half full with plain water, and set it on a hard, flat surface where the magic takes place. Sprinkle pepper on top of the water making sure it's spread around the pan.

  4. Step 4

Tell the audience you're going to make the pepper come alive and make a circle inside the outer edge of the pie pan.

  5. Step 5

Touch the soap-dipped toothpick to the center of the pie plate. The pepper scatters quickly to the outer edges.

  6. Step 6

Ask an audience member to do the trick. Give them the soap dipped toothpick and tell them to put it in the water when they think they have connected with their "magic powers."

Tips & Warnings
  • Before you touch the water with your magic toothpick, ask an audience member to try. Give them a plain toothpick that won't work.
  • You need to rinse the pan out thoroughly before trying the trick again. Tell your audience your magic powers need to recharge.
