The Pennsylvania 500 is held at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. It's one of two races held at the track. The other is the Pocono 500. The first race at Pocono Raceway was in 1968. Six years later, the first NASCAR 500 mile race was held there. Because the track is an unusual triangle shape, the races are always interesting. Read on to learn how to go to the Pennsylvania 500.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Buy individual or group tickets. Tickets are available months in advance or on race day. There are several levels, including the Terrace and Concourse. Buy tickets by calling (800)RACEWAY or get them online at the Pocono Raceway website.
Step2
Book lodging if you're traveling a distance. Many area hotels will offer deals for Pennsylvania 500 race fans. Call around or ask your travel agent. Another good resource is the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau.
Step3
Pull up your RV and make a weekend out of it. There are several camping areas at the Pocono Raceway. If your pet is a NASCAR fan, too, bring it along. Pets are allowed in the camping area, but nowhere else.
Step4
Familiarize yourself with the racetrack rules. Security is heightened at the Pocono Raceway. Officers may check your vehicle at the gate. You're not allowed to bring in coolers larger than 12 by 12 inches, pets, umbrellas, firearms or glass containers. That's just to name a few.
Step5
Leave home early. You don't want to miss a minute of the excitement. Neither do thousands of other race fans. You need to take some back roads to get to Pocono Raceway. So, you'll get stuck in traffic if you don't allow ample time to get to the Pennsylvania 500.
Step6
Bring everything you'll need. Pocono Raceway is basically in the middle of nowhere. There are no stores nearby, so make sure you have all the essentials. Especially if you're going to be camping.
