Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2007

    Understanding Text Entry

  1. Step 1

Recognize that each individual slide in PowerPoint 2007 holds information that shows what type of slide it is. You will see this from the examples presented for your use as you progress through the presentation.

  2. Step 2

Embrace the invention of SmartArt graphics (available with PowerPoint 2007). Click the text icon of the "SmartArt" graphic that shows in your placeholder. Now you can enter text.

  3. Step 3

Start your presentation with the Title Slide. Click into the box that holds the identity of the presentation (or the title), and then follow up with any descriptive information that will make the sub-title.

  4. Step 4

Present your point with all of the pages that follow. Choose text boxes (or placeholders) to place onto a blank page or select a pre-formatted page from the options. You must enter text into the areas of the placeholders. It is not possible to insert text into areas other than placeholders.

  5. Making the Text Entry

  6. Step 1

Write new verbiage directly into the box or select pre-written text from Microsoft Word and copy it with your mouse. Move back over to PowerPoint and "Paste" the wording into the slide.

  7. Step 2

Put selected wording on each slide you want to bring into play using the above directions. Decrease it to make a smaller narrative than you would have in a document.

  8. Step 3

Prepare bullet points as needed to convey the information. If one idea has several facets, you can present abbreviated information in this fashion.

  9. Step 4

Make sure you enter all of the important points.

  10. Step 5

Insert a link into the presentation to bring up material you want to present if there is a lot of text.

  11. Step 6

Follow up with graphics to make your presentations. Make the graphics as simple or complex as needed to get the point across.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you make a total mess of your slide, just choose the "Clear All Formatting" button.
