Although you may spend a fair amount of time in the bedroom, there's a good chance it doesn't receive the same amount of attention as the living room or kitchen. Considering that the bedroom is supposed to be a place of rest and refuge, it should be a priority to create a healthy space. All you need to do is make a few changes to attain the healthy bedroom you need. Read on to learn how to create a healthy bedroom.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Use the bedroom as a place for which it was intended, as a room to sleep. Get rid of the television and relegate the computer to another, more busy space.
Step2
Paint your room with colors that are subtle and soothing. Bright hues used in the bedroom make it more difficult for a person to rest, while neutral colors and shades of blue promote peace. Look for paints that are both water-based and eco-friendly.
Step3
Block out the early light of the sun by hanging blackout shades or by adding a liner to your existing curtains. Waking with the rising sun may prevent you from getting all the sleep that your body needs to stay healthy.
Step4
Buy bedding made of natural fabrics, which absorb sweat better than synthetic fibers, to reduce the risk of rash. Also, wash your bedding frequently to prevent dust mites from accumulating and making you sick.
Step5
Keep the door open to increase the amount of airflow into the bedroom. Likewise, ensure that the temperature of your bedroom remains cool.
Step6
Choose natural hardwood floors in place of carpets to discourage allergens.
