How to Use Tiger Tail in Jewelry Making

Tiger tail is a nylon coated wire cable used for heavier beads and jewelry making. Tiger tail comes in a variety of sizes and is offered in a steel color. It is a stiffer wire that consists of many thin strands of steel wire. Tiger tail is traditionally used for making necklaces, bracelets or anklets. Let your imagination soar to make unique and one of a kind jewelry. Read on to learn how to use tiger tail in jewelry making.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 spool of Tiger Tail
  • Beads or jewels
  • Crimps or ends
  • Closure or clasp
  • White cloth
  • Pliers
  • Wire cutters
  1. Step 1

    Layout a white cloth for your work area so that you can easily see beads and wire.

  2. Step 2

    Pre-measure the amount of tiger tail that you will need. Measure length of project for making a necklace, bracelet or anklet.

  3. Step 3

    Arrange all supplies on your workspace.

  4. Step 4

    Establish a pattern or design for your project.

  5. Step 5

    Chose colors and styles of beads. Visit your local craft or bead store to view the latest in beads and/or jewels.

  6. Step 6

    Add one crimp or end bead to one end of your Tiger Tail. Keep at approximately two inches from the end.

  7. Step 7

    Slide one end of the closure or clasp onto the tiger tail and right "above" the end crimp.

  8. Step 8

    Start stringing your beads or jewels onto the tiger tail. Get creative with your colors, patterns and decorative accents.

  9. Step 9

    Leave at least 2 inches on the other end of the tiger tail so that you can add closure and crimp the end piece.

  10. Step 10

    Slide other end of the closure onto the end of your beads.

  11. Step 11

    Add the last piece of crimp.

  12. Step 12

    Congratulations. You just completed your very own unique masterpiece using tiger tail.
