Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Basket
  • Strawberry plants
  • Moss liner
  • Soil
  1. Step 1

Purchase a hanging strawberry kit. You can buy each item that you need separately or get it all in one kit. A kit will come with a basket with a hook that can be hung, strawberry plants and soil.

  2. Step 2

Plan to start your strawberry garden in early spring. As soon as the weather changes, expect to plant the strawberries.

  3. Step 3

Plant the strawberries in the pot in a good and rich soil after putting down a moss liner. You can place several strawberry plants in one basket as long as it is large enough to accommodate them. Typically, three can fit in each pot.

  4. Step 4

Find a sunny spot to hang up the basket. Ideally, you want to find an outdoor area that receives plenty of sun. Many people choose to hang their strawberry baskets on a deck, patio or front porch.

  5. Step 5

Water the hanging strawberry plant regularly. Strawberries thrive in moist soil conditions. Once the strawberries appear and ripen, you can pick them as needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some hanging strawberry planting kits contain coconut fiber as its soil medium. This is supposed to reduce the amount of mold that you experience.
  • If your strawberries do not grow, try moving them to a different area. They may need to receive more or less direct sunlight.
