Step 1
Choose flowers that are in season. Look at apple and cherry blossoms, daffodils, dogwood, hyacinth, iris, lilies, lilacs, pansies, sweet peas and tulips. Some summer types such as daisies and zinnias may also be ready in spring in warmer climates.
-
Step 2
Look for colors that complement each other. Think about your decor and whether you want flowers to blend in or stand out, and choose colors accordingly. Most spring flowers come in various colors so you should be able to find something that pleases you.
-
Step 3
Use flowers with various textures to add interest to your arrangements. Find a mixture of glossy and matte textures. For example, try mixing lilies with cherry blossoms or tulips with hyacinth to create bouquets that are interesting and modern.
-
Step 4
Find a container for your spring flower arrangements. Vases of every shape and size make traditional and modern looks, depending on the type. Also look at baskets, bowls and other non-traditional containers such as coffee mugs or beer steins.
-
Step 5
Decide on an arrangement and add extra flowers as necessary. Some popular arrangements are fan, circular, triangular, vertical and horizontal arrangements.
-
Step 6
Fill arrangements with foliage and filler flowers to make your bouquet fuller and larger, or leave out to minimize bulk. Look at Eucalyptus, Mimosa, Baby's Breath and Queen Anne's Lace as possible fillers.
