Many people have written some sort of poetry in their lifetime. If the poetry that you have created is original and good, then you probably want to look into having your work published. Instead of publishing poetry in an anthology, many poets are now looking into publishing their poems on the web.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look for a legitimate company. Unfortunately, there are many poetry publishing scams on the Internet. Stay away from any companies that want money up front to publish your work or organizations that are not a well known publishing house.

  2. Step 2

Enter a poetry contest. A poetry contest can allow you to get published on the web and also receive a prize if selected. Use the Bryant McGill website to find legitimate contests to enter.

  3. Step 3

Submit your poetry to an online magazine. The Paris Review accepts poetry submissions and if selected your poem will appear in both the print and online version of their magazine.

  4. Step 4

Join a poetry forum. All Poetry is a free online poetry community where writers can share their poems with other writers. This allows your work to be seen by many while also giving you feedback on your writing. The site also has tools to help you edit your poetry.

  5. Step 5

Put your poem on your website or blog. You can publish your own poetry by placing it on your social networking page or including it in a blog entry.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't be discouraged if your first few poems are not selected for publication. Keep writing and submitting until you find a willing publisher.
