The point of the game Word for Word is to discover a word chosen by the program by typing in guesses. The words above and below your guess tell you where the correct word falls alphabetically. If you don't guess the correct word, your word will replace either the top or bottom word. The round ends when you guess the right word. Read below for complete instructions.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to the website for Finger Time Free Games and click on the "Games" tab (see link below). Find the icon for Word for Word and click on it to bring up the game.

  2. Step 2

Decide whether you want Easy, Medium or Hard. The mystery words only have three letters on the Easy level, whereas Medium words have four and Hard words have five.

  3. Step 3

Type in a word that falls alphabetically between the two shown. Hit the Enter key to submit your guess. The timer starts as soon as you hit Enter the first time.

  4. Step 4

Guess another word if the one you guessed isn't correct. Your incorrect word will replace either the top or bottom word in the game. You always want to guess a word that falls somewhere between the two shown alphabetically.

  5. Step 5

Continue to guess until you discover the right word. One game consists of three rounds, so the game is over when you have completed the three rounds and discovered the three correct words.

  6. Step 6

Find the right word as quickly as possible. Each round is timed, with different bonus point amounts available. The faster you guess the right word, the bigger the bonus you will receive.

  7. Step 7

Submit your score by entering your name and email address if you want your score to go on the high score chart. You do not have to submit your score if you do not want to, though.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid guessing a nonexistent word, as the game will deduct 25 points from your score if you do.
