1
Open the trailer doors, windows and vents for ventilation when cleaning and to help dry the trailer after cleaning.
-
2
Remove the floor mats if the trailer has any. Use a stiff bristled broom to sweep the trailer floor and along the bottom of the walls.
-
-
3
Use a wire brush on tough debris or stains that won't come clean with the broom. Use the brush on edges along the floor and in cracks and crevices.
-
4
Spray the inside of the trailer with a water hose. Use an adjustable nozzle for a stronger stream of water. Rinse the trailer completely, concentrating on any stains.
-
5
Apply a cleaner to the floor and lower walls of the trailer. Cleaning products for trailers are available at trailer sales stores and equine supply stores. If none are available, a mixture of water and dish liquid can be used. Only a small amount of dish liquid is needed. Mix the dish liquid and water in a bucket. Dish liquid may be hard to rinse away if applied directly to the floor.
-
6
Follow the instructions on the cleaning product you are using. Rinse the trailer clean of all cleaners. Allow the cleaner to sit longer on stained areas.
-
7
Allow the trailer to dry completely before putting the mats back on the floor. If the mats lay on a wet surface, mold and rotting can occur.
-
8
Check the trailer for any imperfections while cleaning. Check the floor for rotten wood and holes. Check the walls for rust.
