Catholic colleges across the United States and even the world attract hundreds of thousands of students annually. Students of all nationalities and religion consider Catholic colleges while preparing for higher education. Catholic colleges offer the combination of a solid education rooted in the Catholic Faith and classic tradition. Catholic colleges help prepare young men and women for their life vocations. Here are some tips and suggestions when deciding between several Catholic colleges.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Buy and read the Cardinal Newman Society's Newman Guide to Catholic Colleges, which reviews the best Catholic colleges in America. This guide only includes colleges which are authentically Catholic, as determined by a set of objective standards applied to each Catholic college.
Step2
Learn which Catholic colleges offer the degree or area of study you are hoping to attain. Christendom College, for example, is a liberal arts college offering Bachelor of Arts degrees in English, Political Science, History, Theology, Philosophy and several others. Franciscan University of Steubenville has science programs and a nursing school.
Step3
Attend a summer program at your favorite Catholic college. You can choose from summer programs such as the ones offered by Christendom, St. Thomas Aquinas and Magdalen Colleges, to get more of a feel for the college you hope to attend.
Step4
Visit your top two or three Catholic colleges during your senior year of high school. Schedule a "Come and See" weekend at several, or at least those close enough to visit. Explore each campus, meet other students and attend classes while you are there.
Step5
Send your applications to the top Catholic colleges of your choice, highlighting your academic strengths and well-rounded interests. Write solid application essays and edit carefully. Be sure to complete each application in a professional manner.

The colleges listed above as well as the Cardinal Newman Society have embraced a political world-view of the right-wing (not "conservative" as they would portray themselves); a pre-Vatican II understanding of ecclesiology and a misunderstanding of the social, religious, and educational development of young adults.
