Step 1
Enjoy the wines of Kelphalonia. The island of Kelphalonia, one of the Ionian Islands, is noted for its dry white wine called Robola, made from Robola grapes. The island also produces the ruby-colored dessert wine, Mavrodaphne.

Step 2
Savor the wines of Crete. The island of Crete has been crafting wine since the Minoan people lived on the island, well before the Golden Age of Greece. One of the best wines produced here is by Cair, the Crete wine co-op, who makes a dry sparkling wine, using Athiri grapes and the classic "champagne" method.

Step 3
Sip the wines of Macedonia. Macedonia, in the northern part of Greece, is known for its red-bodied red wines, particularly wines made from the native Xinomavro grape. The region also produces a refreshing sparkling rose and a light fruity red wine.

Step 4
Drink the wines of the Peloponnese. The Peloponnesian Peninsula, south of Athens, lies between the Aegean and the Ionian Seas. The humid climate is ideal for growing grapes, and the region produces a number of fine wines. Among them are Mantinia, a full-bodied red wine made with Moschofilero grapes, and Patra, a savory dry white wine.
