You feel very strongly about environmental protection and you'd like to be an environmental advocate. You could get a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and then a Master's degree specializing in Environmental Education and Advocacy. However, if you'd like to start saving the world right now, here are a few suggestions to help you advocate for your favorite environmental organization.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Choose a cause. There are multiple aspects to saving the environment such as water and other natural resource conservation, reducing air pollution, stopping global warming and preserving wildlife. Pick your passion and start saving the earth from there.
Step2
Join an activist group. If you want to join an already established environmental advocacy organization, you can do an online search for your favorite cause, or go a website like SaveOurEnvironment.org or SaveTheEnvironment.com to find a list of many different organizations to choose from. These websites also give information on being an advocate in your locality.
Step3
Get involved. There are several ways to advocate your environmental cause. You can hold a local informational event or fundraiser to educate others about your environmental group, or start a volunteer group in your community to do things like clean a local park or gather recyclables. You can also write an editorial for your local newspaper or letters to your local senator advocating environmental clean-up.
Step4
Rally others to your cause. One big aspect of being an advocate is growing the number of supporters interested in your movement. If you have joined a national or international organization, they probably have items available that will help you advertise their organization. If you are holding fundraisers or community awareness programs for your organization, make a sign-up sheet available for people who are interested in joining your cause. Also, you can use the Internet to get the word out by starting your own website, blog or discussion group dedicated to advocating your environmental cause.
