Keeping a PC safe from the elements takes more than just common sense. Dangers you weren't aware of can permanently damage your computer by allowing it to overheat or short circuit. Learn how to protect your computer from elemental harm by reading below.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Step1
Set up your PC away from windows and outside doors. This will keep it safe from wind, rain or other harmful things from the outdoors. Even if someone tracks snow in from outside, your computer will still be safe and cozy.
Step2
Keep your PC at the right temperature. Find an area of your house where the temperature is fairly constant. Its important not to let your computer get too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. This is less of an issue if you have air conditioning or good heating.
Step3
Clean your computer occasionally. In areas where there's a lot of dust, this is essential. The same dust that appears on your blinds and curtains can infiltrate your computer and cause it to overheat. Ensure that your PC is safe by regularly spraying the insides with canned air. This will help keep the dust to a minimum.
Step4
Use a dehumidifier. If you live in a place where the air is very damp, it could have a harmful effect on your computer. The best answer is to keep the area around your PC as dry as possible and use plenty of case fans.
