How to Enjoy a Toledo Mud Hens Game

The Toledo Mud Hens are an International League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers major league baseball organization. Based in Toledo Ohio, the Mud Hens began play in 1883 and continue to be one of the most popular minor league teams in the country. Past players include Kirby Puckett, Jim Thorpe and current Cleveland Indians manager, Eric Wedge. Read on to learn more.

Step1
Buy tickets. Tickets to Toledo Mud Hens games are available online or directly from the team's ticket office at Fifth Third Field, where the team plays. Fifth Third Field is located at 406 Washington Street in downtown Toledo.
Step2
Bring a group and enjoy a pre-game picnic. Groups of 25 people or more can enjoy a pre-game picnic right at Fifth Third Field. The facility offers five different menus and takes care of all of the arrangements, serving and clean-up. Groups also receive mention on the Mud Hens scoreboard during the game and a discount on tickets.
Step3
Watch a game. The Toledo Mud Hens play over 100 games from early April to mid-September. Other teams in the International League include the Columbus (Ohio) Clippers, the Durham Bulls and the Indianapolis Indians.
Step4
Stay for the fireworks. The Mud Hens entertain fans with a firework display after the game most Saturdays throughout the season. Check the Mud Hens website for exact dates.
Step5
Let your kids run the bases. The Mud Hens allow children aged 12 and under to run the bases after the game each Sunday (weather permitting).
