Step 1
Decide on what you want to do with the MIDI files. For instance, converting them to ringtones for your phone requires an entirely different process than simply wanting to play them using your phone.

Set up the file for a ringtone by cutting it down to a 12-second song using a MIDI editor such as the one listed below. You may also have to cut down on the number of "voices" in the file to four. MIDI files can contain up to 23 voices.

Convert the song to SP-MIDI using your music editing software. Save it as an SMP file.

Determine the process for downloading the file from your PC to your phone. Some phones can connect directly to the computer using a USB cable, while others use the WAP process, where you have to save the file to a download area on your provider's website and then have it "call" your phone to download the file.

Convert any MIDI files you want to play in their entirety to wav or mp3 files using your audio editing software, and download them to your phone using the same process outlined in Step 4.
