Instructions
  1. Step 1

Read the eligibility requirements. They can be found on the Internet at your state government's website or on the USDA site. Besides being pregnant or having a small child, you must also meet the financial requirements.

  2. Step 2

Find your state's WIC department. The state's website will give you information on how to apply for the aid.

  3. Step 3

Make an appointment with a representative from the WIC department. You need to go to the office and discuss your eligibility with a WIC caseworker.

  4. Step 4

Bring all documents that are required by the department. They are likely to include proof of identity, residency and income along with your children's health records.

  5. Step 5

Pick up WIC foods at an authorized vendor after you have been approved. You need to find out from the WIC department the stores that you can go to use your WIC assistance.

  6. Step 6

Use the other serviced provided. WIC gives nutritional support to participants as well as referrals for healthcare.

Tips & Warnings
  • Many WIC departments require that all participants, including children, be present at the eligibility appointment.
  • If you are moving, ask your WIC department about receiving WIC benefits at your new residence.
