Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start shopping for a Chevy Impala by deciding upon a specific year. Many car restoration enthusiasts enjoy the look of the early-1960s Impala. Whatever your tastes, there are classic car dealers available around the country.

  2. Step 2

Shop online. Several online classic car sites exist, but check them out thoroughly before ordering. Shopping online is also a good way to narrow a search for just the right car. Online Impala dealers provide a lot of photographs and background materials. If possible, go see the car in person, or have a friend take a look at the car in person.

  3. Step 3

Attend classic car shows and rallies. The summer is the best time for classic car shows. Car enthusiasts have many sources for Impala parts and often have cars in need of restoration. Impala restorers often have several cars on their own wish lists and are often happy to part with one of their secondary projects.

  4. Step 4

Read the classifieds section of major newspapers. Classic cars are always for sale, and due to its sturdy design, there are Impala's for sale every few weeks. Driving around older neighborhoods is another good way to find a diamond in the rough.

  5. Step 5

Buy an Impala and arrange for shipping or towing. If the car is purchased locally, a tow truck can be hired, but if the car is purchased from out of state, long-distance transport will have to be arranged. Check the local yellow pages for automobile shipping firms.
