Response cards are a common way of eliciting RSVPs for invited guests for more formal events such as weddings and formal dinners. Response cards are simple to make and give a feeling of formality to your event without adding much cost.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Purchase response card paper and envelopes that match the style and formality your wedding invitations. These can be ordered online or bought in any number of craft or stationery stores.

  2. Step 2

Determine the information you need to obtain from your response card. Such as the exact number of people attending, the number of adults compared to the number of children and a head count for the different meal options.

  3. Step 3

Consider wording that suits the formality of your event. More formal response cards may say "The honor of your reply is requested by" and offer the date you wish to hear back by. Less formal response cards may say "We look forward to hearing from you by" and offering the date to respond by.

  4. Step 4

Include a line that allows for the guests to write in their names.

  5. Step 5

Offer a line to be checked for "will be attending" and "must decline" options.

  6. Step 6

Include space for any other information you will need.

  7. Step 7

Follow specific printing directions for the response cards you purchased. Be sure to have a trial print on a piece of regular paper before you begin to print all of your response cards.

Tips & Warnings
  • Specific wording for response cards can be found in wedding etiquette books, online, and stationary stores.
  • Place the response card and the return envelope in the original invitation. The return envelope should have your address already printed on it and a stamp affixed.
