Spring break is a time to get away and unwind with your closest friends at an exotic resort location. Although you want to have fun, you also want to stay out of trouble. A little planning will ensure that you have a fun-filled trip and also stay safe on spring break.

From Quick Guide: Guide to Travel Seasons
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Learn about the laws of any foreign country you plan to visit. Alcohol age limits and drug laws vary from country to country.

  2. Step 2

Study the culture of the country you plan to visit. Become aware of any social problems the country is experiencing that could effect your plans.

  3. Step 3

Register when traveling abroad. Registration for travelers abroad is free to U.S. citizens and records where you plan to be and your contact information (see Resources). This lets the government contact you regarding any emergency that could interfere with your safe trip.

  4. Step 4

Travel inconspicuously. Don't show off excessive amounts of cash, jewelry or expensive clothing. Leave expensive electronics at home, such as iPods and iPhones. Use a prepaid disposable cell phone instead.

  5. Step 5

Use the buddy system when going to clubs and bars around the locals. Be sure to stay together even if you meet other people.

  6. Step 6

Be respectful. Avoid being excessively loud or rude to others. Not everyone you meet or will be around is on spring break. Hotels can kick you out if you disturb their other guests.

  7. Step 7

Take plenty of sunscreen. If you're planning on a break near the beach, chances are your winter skin will burn easily. Try to get your skin adjusted to the sun before you go on break and let it get used to the sun gradually over several days. You'll have more fun if you aren't burnt to a crisp.
