Skydiving is an exhilarating sport that attracts thousands of new jumpers each year. Skydivers claim that you will never experience a bigger thrill than free-falling towards the earth at high speeds. If you have never skydived, then you need to learn the basics of the sport.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find an area that permits skydiving. These areas are called drop zones and are located worldwide.

  2. Step 2

Contact a skydiving company to schedule your skydiving excursion. Typically, they inquire about what type of jump you wish to perform and if you have any experience. The three main jumps that beginners can try are tandem, static line and accelerated free-fall.

  3. Step 3

Take a course. If you have never skydived before, the instructors need to teach you the basics of jumping. This includes when to pull the cord and other safety measures.

  4. Step 4

Jump. A plane flies you up thousands of feet above the earth for your jump. An instructor tells you when it's time to jump and you start free-falling. After free-falling for several thousand feet, you pull the cord and float safely to the earth.

  5. Step 5

Get a skydiving license. Once you have taken several courses and completed numerous jumps, you can get a license that permits you to jump without supervision.

Tips & Warnings
  • For your first time skydiving, you may prefer to do a jump with several friends and perform a tandem jump. In a tandem jump you are secured to an experienced instructor during your jump.
  • Before you skydive, you must sign a liability form with the company running the jump. This ensures that they are not responsible in the case of injury or death.
