Step 1
Learn the basics of shooting or firing the device you will be shooting targets with. Take some basics lessons on gun or archery so you can be well versed in the safety precautions and basics of the instrument.
-
Step 2
Practice shooting targets in a controlled and safe place. Center yourself and calm down before attempting to shoot the target.
-
Step 3
Breathe and lower your blood pressure and body temperature. Steady your hand before attempting to aim. Prepare to aim, making sure you can focus in and out easily. Make sure there are few to no obstructions between you and your target.
-
Step 4
Focus in on your target. Zero the target in at about 6 o'clock for the best vantage point. Ensure that you have equal space on either side of your target this will guarantee the proper position of your target.
-
Step 5
Note when the target becomes blurry, since this will be when your front sight has properly zeroed in on the target. Steady your shooting hand (if shooting a gun) with your non-dominant hand. Make sure you have a firm grasp on the weapon before attempting to shoot.
-
Step 6
Take up the slack on the trigger of the weapon you are firing before pulling the trigger. Check to make sure you still have a centered target before firing. Concentrate on keeping the target centered in your line of vision before firing.
