How to Play Typer Shark

Typer Shark is one of those games that is educational but is still fun. The object of the game is very simple. Sharks with words on them swim towards your little swimmer and to stop them you need to type the shark's word. It sounds so easy when its being described but the game is both fun and quite challenging. There are occasionally other challenges such as different types of fish or speed rounds.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a website that hosts Typer Sharks. There are several different sites with the game and most of them will allow you to play the game free. Some sites will let you download the game for a small fee.

    • 2

Choose a difficulty level based on your typing skills. The words per minute (WPM) of each level is next to the difficulty's name.

    • 3

Examine the interface. Your character is the little diver on the left side of the screen; sharks (and occasionally other fish) will attack from the left. At the top you can see your level, your point total and the number of additional lives you possess (depicted by the little diving helmets). At the bottom of the screen there is a new game button, a pause and a mute button in the gray areas. In the yellow area you can see your Charge Meter. When it is full, press "Enter" to destroy all the fish on the screen. The tiny number on the left side of the screen is your depth. The object is to live long enough to make it to the bottom of the water to find sunken treasure.

    • 4

Type the word or letter on the side of the attacking fish to zap it with your pulse gun. Incorrect letters are simply disregarded so no need to use the backspace key. The more accurate you are the more points you will get.

    • 5

Sink down to the bottom while zapping sharks and you will make it to the treasure. Type the words that appear as quickly as possible to gain additional points. When you have run out of time you will move on to the next, more challenging, area.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember that accuracy counts. The more accurate you are, the more points you will get; the more points you get, the more bonus lives you receive.

  • Some game sites require that you download software. Only do this if you completely trust the site, as it may be spyware or adware.
