You are ready to clean your way into your own business as a maid. Getting started may seem daunting but is not as hard as you may think. Here is a guide to help you make your dream of becoming a maid a reality.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Make a business plan. Include in this plan your decision on how many hours you want to work, how many houses or businesses you want to take on, and what time slots you will allow in your schedule for this job.
Step2
Call your insurance agent. No matter how careful and honest you are, insuring yourself is the first place to start. Explain your business goals and let your agent help you find the best coverage for loss and damage.
Step3
Scout the area. Call around to different maid services in the area and find out how much they charge for the type of jobs you are looking to pursue in your plan. Inquire for prices as if you were a customer.
Step4
Shop for supplies. Maids normally provide all of their own products and equipment. Find what products work best, shop sales and ask others where they have purchased their vacuum sweepers and larger cleaning tools.
Step5
Sell yourself. Advertising is expensive, so you will want to tell everyone you know about your new business, put up signs or business cards on public and community bulletin boards and make announcements at organizations or churches you belong to.
Step6
Create a contract with each client. This will ensure both you and the client are settled on the job description, expectations and liabilities.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try to offer some specialty that other services in the area do not provide.
