Taco squares are a delicious and nutritious recipe to cook for your family, and they are bound to become a much-requested dish. The recipe is quick, easy, economical and utilizes many ingredients that you are likely to have on hand.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1-½ cup biscuit mix
  • Vegetable oil
  • 1-½ lb. hamburger
  • Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped green peppers
  • 1 small onion, chopped finely
  • Ketchup or chopped tomatoes
  • 2/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 oz. sour cream
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Chopped lettuce
  1. Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Step 2

    Add water to the baking mix until it makes a very thick dough. Oil a deep-baking pan or casserole dish and spread the dough on the bottom and up the sides of the dish.

  3. Step 3

    Brown the hamburger and season it with the garlic powder and chili powder. Add the chopped green peppers and onions and cook just until tender. Drain.

  4. Step 4

    Place the hamburger mixture in the bottom of the baking pan and spread some ketchup or chopped tomatoes over the hamburger.

  5. Step 5

    Combine, in a separate bowl, the mayonnaise, sour cream and ΒΌ cup of the cheddar cheese. Stir until well-blended.

  6. Step 6

    Spoon the mayonnaise mixture over the meat and sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top. Bake until the crust is brown, about 40 minutes. Cool five minutes before serving.

  7. Step 7

    Serve the chopped lettuce separately, along with extra sour cream for garnish.
