How to Create T-Shirt Designs With Swarovski Crystals
If you're looking for a cheap way to make an old, ordinary T-shirt hip and exciting, using Swarovski iron-on crystals is a unique way to accomplish this. Swarovski crystals are well known and are often used in jewelry. You can create messages, designs or symbols. Swarovski crystals can easily be added in whatever design you choose to make a glamorous fashion statement.

Assemble a few simple tools of the trade. You'll need a hard, flat surface for working, an iron, a 100-percent cotton T-shirt, tracing paper for your design and Hot Fix Swarovski Crystals. These crystals have a unique glue on the tip that melts onto the fabric when a heated iron is applied. They can be purchased at craft stores such as Michael's or online at the Rhinestone Shop.

Wash the T-shirt in hot water before beginning to preshrink it as well as to ensure there is no residue to interfere with attaching the crystals.

Create your own T-shirt design by simply arranging the crystals on the T-shirt or drawing a design on the tracing paper first.

Secure the Swarovski crystals by firmly pressing them in place on the T-shirt for about five to seven seconds.

Iron on the crystal design by pressing a warm iron against the underside of the T-shirt, against the glue side of the crystals. First cover the fabric with a Teflon ironing sheet to protect the crystals from becoming scratched.

Press down firmly once again (after the glue on the crystals has been warmed) to make sure that each Swarovski crystal is anchored firmly in place.

And just how are you supposed to iron the underside of the shirt? Flip it over? Swarovski themselves tell you to place the design on the shirt, and place a thin piece of fabric over the top of the crystals, then press down firmly with the iron for 10 - 15 seconds on each section of the design. Use a piece of nonstick teflon sheet underneath so the shirt doesn't stick to the ironing surface. I do this for a living and these instructions above are wrong. -
