The Pulik, or Hungarian Water Dog, is a medium-sized, strong and sturdy breed. Puliks make great show dogs since they are incredibly obedient. Their coats come in a variety of colors including black, white, gray and apricot. They have a very unique, corded coat which is incredibly thick. They require a full grooming every 6 to 8 weeks and a general grooming once a week.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Use the slicker brush first to get rid of all the mats in your Pulik's corded hair. Then use a pin brush and combs to work through any other tangles in the coat. When they are puppies, most of the mats form as the undercoat is joining with the topcoat to form the cords. Make sure to work through the mats by hand. This breed does not naturally shed at all.

  2. Step 2

Comb out the hair underneath the muzzle.

  3. Step 3

Part the hair on top of the head in the middle and pull it down the sides of the head towards the cheeks.

  4. Step 4

Bathe when necessary. This is probably one of the easiest dogs to bathe, as they need only get thoroughly soaked. However, it takes several hours to dry them, even with a blow dryer.

  5. Step 5

Clean out the dog's eyes and ears frequently and look carefully for signs of infection.

  6. Step 6

    Clip your Pulik's nails frequently.

  • There aren't any major health problems associated with the Pulik.
