There are thousands of at-home workout videos that you can purchase to use in the comfort of your own home. In fact, many people prefer to work out at home so they can avoid surveillance at the gym or other public locations. Plus, it can save you hundreds of dollars in gym membership fees. Read the steps below for how to make your home exercise video work for you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Choose a fun video. It does not matter if you have never done the samba or a hip hop danced ever in your life, just pick something that will be fun and make you laugh.
Step2
Do the best you can. It is perfectly fine if you do not mirror the instructors on the videos perfectly. The idea in most of these videos is to keep your heart rate up. For repetitions, do as many as you can, and take advantage of modified positions that are offered.
Step3
Change it up. Doing the same video and the same routine day-in and day-out is boring. Select different videos or videos that have multiple segments so you do not get bored.
Step4
Switch the soundtrack. Once you know what to do in the video, turn down the sound and crank your own favorite tunes. You may find that you get a better work out from jamming to your own favorite music than the audio in the video.
Step5
Make it important. Find a time to put this in your schedule and make it as important as taking a shower or eating dinner. People fizzle out from their home workouts because they do not make it a priority.
Step6
Grab a friend. It's always easier to do things like this in pairs. If your schedules don't mesh to be able to do the workout together, do it separately and keep each other accountable with a journal or daily phone call.
