Skiing when there's no snow can be a challenge, especially if one doesn't have access to a beach. Fear not, you can install a ski trainer and continue your training indoors. Read this eHow to learn more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Choose a room or a place in your house where you will install your ski trainer. The floor can either be carpeted or hardwood. Having a fair amount of space as well as few obstructions is best, like either a great room or family room or a hall way.
Step2
Make certain the room or hallway in which you will be training is clear. Pick up any shoes or odds and ends from the floor before beginning your training.
Step3
Check the edge stop on the bottom of the board to make sure there aren't any exposed screws. Exposed screws can damage wood floors and catch on carpeting.
Step4
Place the ski trainer turn style board on the floor and turn it so that the blunt end of the board is facing the front.
Step5
Put plastic tips on your ski poles (comes with the ski trainer turn style board), and use the poles to steady you as you step onto the board. Your feet should be in the middle of the board.
Step6
Begin a turn by switching your weight from side to side. Use your poles to help steady you as you do so, but be careful to touch the floor only lightly with them. Over time, you will build up a smooth rhythm, just as with alpine skiing.
