Hosting a party for the neighborhood is a great way to build a sense of community and get to know the people who live in your area. But whether you invite a couple of next-door neighbors or the entire block, the process can be a lot of work. Follow these steps to make hosting a party for your neighbors a breeze.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Spread the word. Drop off invitations or make a personal phone call to each of your neighbors to let them know about the party. Be sure to give everyone about a month's notice to prevent schedule conflicts.
Step2
Plan appropriately for the number of guests who will attend the party. Ask your neighbors to RVSP so you have an idea of how many people will come. Keep in mind that sometimes people simply show up without notice. It's usually wise to overestimate attendance so you're sure to have enough food and refreshments for everyone.
Step3
Offer a variety of food, including a vegetarian option. If you need to cut down on expenses, consider having a potluck gathering where everyone brings a dish. Children will more than likely be in attendance, so offer kid-friendly food and drinks, such as finger food and punch.
Step4
Encourage your guests to mingle. With the busy schedules most people have today, it's often difficult to spend time getting to know your neighbors. Your party may be the first opportunity they have to meet one another.
Step5
Organize some games or activities for both children and adults.
Step6
Remember that as a host you're ultimately responsible for the safety of your guests. Although you don't necessarily have to come up with a complete safety plan before the party, it's helpful to think through various situations and how you'll handle them if they arise.
